Computational Thinking for Governance Analytics

1. Software Installation

Every program below will offer you a version according to your computer (MacOS/Windows/Linux)'s operating system. Choose the right one.

For the first half of the course:
- PYTHON: You need to install the version from Continuum Analytics (ANACONDA), which is available at https://www.continuum.io/downloads
- R: You need to install this before the next program. Geit it at https://cran.r-project.org/
- RStudio: After installing R, you need to install this program from https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/
- GITHUB: Get an account at https://github.com/, and then download the desktop app.
For the second half of the course:
- NETLOGO: You can get it at https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/download.shtml
- OpenSolver : If you have a gmail account, we will use it from there, so do not install it.

We can take as much extra time as needed to help you with these installations.

The book for the course is:

Magallanes, José Manuel (2017). Introduction to Data Science for Social and Policy Research. Cambridge University Press.

You will need this to assist you in most sessions.
